4x100m Relay and 2 high jumpers heading to state!!

State - The boys 4x100m relay team finished 7th in their heat, running 43.37. The relay team of Kurtz, Barton, Splon and Ross ran well, with clean exchanges. In the High Jump - Weston Ross struggled and didn't clear the starting 6' 2" height. Jarrett Austin cleared 6' 4", but needed 6' 5" to make the finals.

Sectionals @ BG - Congratulations to the 4x100m Relay team for qualifying to state AND setting a new school record running 42.8. The team of James Kurtz, Matt Splon, Mike Barton and Weston Ross finished a close 2nd to BG in the race. Also qualifying was Weston Ross and Jarrett Austin in the high jump, both clearing 6' 4". There were many great performances last night. Kevin Richardson running a personal best in the 400 (51.6 7th), David Martin in the 800m (1:59.4-7th), Mike Barton in the Long Jump (21' 9" - 8th), Jordy Arriaga a freshman in the 800m (2:01.3), Ivan Dovbak a sophmore in the 300m IH 42.7, and Peter Kim a freshman 17.8 in the 110m HH.

MSL Conference Meet @ Conant - The boys varsity finished in 8th place with 42 points windy cooler afternoon. The meet was postponed from friday night because of rain. The highlights of the afternoon came from the 4x100m Relay which won in a time of 43.7. A strong start by James Kurtz got the team rolling and a strong charge by BG came up short. (Conference Champs) In the HJ Jarrett Austin finishe 2nd place in 6' 2", our 4x200m Relay team finished 3rd in 1:32.0 (Splon, Zimmer, Austin, Ross), Matt Splon finished a suprising 3rd in the 200m dash running 22.9, James Kurtz finished 5th in the 100m dash, Mike Barton was also fifth in the Long Jump going 21' 8". Kevin Richardson finished 7th in 400m Dash, and Jarrett Austin was 7th in the Pole Vault. On the Frosh-Soph level we had two 1st place finishes, Jordy Arriaga won the 800m Run, and was the lead-off on the winning 4x400m relay which included Jordy, Ivan Dovbak, Peter Kim, and Andrew Jensen.

Glenbrook South "Titan" Inv. - Our tune up before conference included a focus on the relays. Our 4x100m relay continued to be consistent running 43.6 and finishing 3rd behind Niles North and Niles West. The 4x200m relay finished 2nd in a time of 1:32.9. As a team we only finished with 30 pts, and placed 8th in the meet. Our other scorers included Mike Zimmer in the long Jump, Erik Rodriguez in the 3200m run, David Martin in the 800m run, Weston Ross in the High jump and Lucas Bledsoe in the Discus.

Palatine Relays - The cats performed very well, producing one of our best performances of the season. We finshed 5th in the 16 team invitational with 47 points. We were led by the record setting group of High Jumpers (Mike Barton 6' 2", Jarrett Austin 6' 2", Weston Ross 6' 7") The group set a new meet record by jumping a combined 18' 11", which improved the previous best by over 7". Weston Ross set a new school record jumping 6' 7". In the Long Jump the cats improved on the meet record jumping a combined 64' 7.5" (Mike Barton 21' 10.5, Mike Zimmer 21' 7", Weston Ross 21' 2"), unfortunately Bolingbrook jumped further, so the Cats settled for 2nd place. The cats finished 2nd in teh 4x100m Relay and 4x200m Relays running a season best 1:31.9 in the latter. James Kurtz finished a strong 4th in the 100m dash, along with the Distance Medley of Max Osipov, Jordy Arriaga, David Martin and Erik Rodriguez and the Pole Vault Relay (31' 9"- Jarrett Austin 11' 9", Brad Miller 10' 3", Brandyn Gray 9' 9")

MSL East Divsion Meet - BG and Prospect fought all the way to the finish with BG winning the title with 164 pts to Prospect's 146. The cats finished 5th with 70 pts. The Cats only victory was in the 4x200m relay, a exciting come from behind win. We finished 2nd in the 4x100m relay, Weston Ross was 2nd in the Long Jump, James Kurtz and Weston Ross went 3-4 in the 100m Dash, sophomore Ivan Dovbak ran 43.2 and finished 4th in the 300m IH.

Proviso East Inv - The Proviso meet gave us one last opportunity to compete indoors. Unfortunately, the meet ends up being during spring break with left us with some of our better athletes. We still had some good performances. Erik Rodriguez ran 4:42 and finished 2nd in the 1600m Run, Weston Ross finished 2nd in the Long Jump improving his personal best to 21'5.75" and finished 2nd. Weston also made the finals of the 55m dash running at FAT 6.76. The F/S 4x800 team ran a season best 9:09 and finished 7th, included on that team were Jordy Arriaga, Jose Ortiz, Ivan Dovbak and Nick Modlin.

Triangular meet @ Glenbard North - The cats traveled to Glenbard North to give most of the 85 athletes on the track team a chance to compete. We had many improvement and personal bests.
