2003 Season

6/9/03 - State Results - Our performaces at State weren't our season bests, but the experience was vaulable none the less. For our juniors, they now know what state is all about, and the level of competition that they must work towards. For the seniors, most of whom had never attended a state meet, it was a prized culmination of 4 years of competition that they will cherish.

5/26/03 State Qualifiers - The following athletes qualified to state and helped the Wildcats to a 6th place finish at the sectional meet. We werer only 2 pts out of second place!

We advanced two relays, 4x100m Relay (Moy, Guinto, Norwood, Heard) and 4x400m Relay (Diaz, Dunbar, Moy, Lynch). Individual qualifiers include Kevin Lynch in the 400m Dash, and Mike Burke in the 3200m Run. Lynch and the 4x100m Dash were Sectional Champions!!

We finished 6th place at the Sectional meet, only 2 points out of second place!!

Conference meet - The Varsity finished in 6th place with 63 points. This was our best finish since 1998 and our biggest point total since we won the conference meet in 1990. We are definately on the right track towards making an impact in our conference next season.

Though we didn't have any conference champions, we did make an impact this year. All 4 of our relays placed inthe top 6. The 3200m Relay - 6th, 1600m relay - 2nd, 800m relay - 3rd and 400m Relay - 4th. Individually, the 300m I. Hurdles was our premier event with Brain Moy 2nd and Randy Dunbar 3rd. Other event place winners were Jeff Heard - 3rd - Long Jump, Mike Burke - 3rd - 3200m Run, Kevin Lynch - 4th - 400m Run, Jeff Heard - 5th - 100m Dash, Arthur Norwood - 6th - 200m Dash, Juan Reyes - 6th - Discus.

The F/S also finished 6th in the Conference meet, running a strong meet with a low number of athletes. Those who participated made an impact. We had two conference champions. David Arteaga - 100m Dash, and Jori Brown in the 200m Dash. These two young men, as well as several others will make an impact on our team next year.

4/29/03 - The outdoor season is well under way. The month of April is winding down, and the Cats have had their ups and downs. We defeated Schaumburg and Buffalo Grove, but came up short against Fremd and Prospect. At our invitationals we had a solid performance at Bartlett finishing 4th out of 16 teams, but performed poorly at Lake Forest. We continue to discover what abilities we have. Sophomores Arthur Norwood and David Arteaga have stepped up, to help us fill in some holes because of injuries. The seaons begins to wind down with our last dual meet vs. Rolling Meadows today, and the McHenry Relays on Thrusday.

3/22/03 - The indoor season is winding down. The MSL Indoor Inv. was completed on friday night. The Wildcats performed well finishing 3rd in the 9 team field. The cats were lead again by Jeff Heard in the 55m Dash, 200m Dash, Long Jump and a member of the 4-Lap relay. Randy Dunbar and Brian Moy placed in both hurdle events, with Randy finishing 2nd in both High's and Low's. Brian was 3rd in the Low's. Cesar Rodriguez was a 3 medal winner, a member of the 3200m relay, 1600m relay and 2nd in the open 800m. David Diaz was also a 3 medal winner, 4-Lap relay, 400m and 200m runner-up finishes. For more complete results of the Invitational click here.

The rest of the cats have a dual meet at Glenbard North on monday, and the Romeoville Inv. on Friday night. Then we head outside.

3/12/03 - The past week has been good for us, we beat Mundelein on friday 105-21, and then headed out to Rockton tuesday and finished 2nd out of 4 teams. The field events suffered at Rockton because of the long trek out there. We have made good progress, and continue to improve. These competitions have continued to demonstrate that we can be a force in the MSL.

This past saturday, March 1st, the Wildcats competed in their own Wildcat Inv. held at Wheeling. The cats made waves finishing in the "hardware" with a 2nd place finish behind Maine South 116-96. The Cats were lead by Jeff Heard's1st place finish in the Long Jump. He also anchored the 4x1 lap along with Brian Moy, David Diaz and Jon Sanchez to a 1st Place. The distance guys were not be denied also winning the 4x800 with Jose Lopez, Rene Samano, Bernard Gajos and Cesar Rodriguez. In the 3200m run Julio Perez took the lead with 2 laps to go and won in a time of 10:31.5 a 12 second PR already.

The season is underway. We competed at our first meet last thursday at Maine East. We came away with a 2-1 record, defeating host Maine East and Notre Dame, but coming up short against Conant. We had some very good early season performances, but had other areas that need improvement. We certainly were in a position to have won the meet, but mistakes and poor choices hurt us.
