Grading System:
Grading: The grading of written and oral work will be on the following scale:
               90 - 100% =  A
               80 -   89% =  B
               70 -   79% =  C
               60 -   69% =  D
               59% and below =  F

Grades are based on tests, quizzes, homework, and work habits and participation.
        Tests are weighted at 45%
        Quizzes are weighted at 25%
        Homework is weighted at 20%
Participation/Work Habits are weighted at 10%

Habits of Work:
In the foreign language classroom, it is imperative to provide every student with an optimal learning environment. Appropriate behavior is vital to your success in the classroom and contributes to a positive learning environment for all. Disrespectful and inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Each quarter the students will be given 100 points in this area. At the teacher’s discretion points will be subtracted from your Participation/Work Habits grade and/or appropriate disciplinary action will be taken. The following are some examples of inappropriate behavior:
1. Unexcused absences (cuts) - 25 points subtracted
2. Unserved detentions - 20 points subtracted
3. Tardiness - 10 points subtracted
4. Unprepared for class (No book, pencil, etc.) - 5 points subtracted
5. Talking without permission - 10 points subtracted
6. Leaving your seat without permission - 5 points subtracted
7. Lack of respect for others - 5 - 25 points subtracted
8. Lack of respect for school property or property of others - 5- 25 points subtracted depending on
the severity
9. Cheating or copying any work - No credit will be given
10. Obscene or inappropriate language - 25 points subtracted

Homework Policy/Procedures:
Homework: The daily practice that homework provides is important in learning a foreign language. Concepts learned in class must be practiced over and over until they become natural. Therefore, homework will be checked on a daily basis when assigned. Zero points will be awarded for no homework or a partially completed assignment. Homework will make up 20% of the grade.
Make-up Policy/Procedures:
Make-up Work: In a foreign language class, the classroom experiences you miss may not be able to be duplicated. Thus, your attendance is extremely important. When absent, it is your responsibility to contact me about what you have missed and to make up any homework assignments and tests missed. For every day you are absent, you will be allowed one day to make up the missed work and tests. After that, for every day tests or quizzes are taken late, you will receive a 10% grade reduction. If you return from an absence on the day of a test that was announced when you were present, you will be required to take the test with the rest of the class.
