Course Syllabus/Outline:
Course Learning Goals/Outcomes:
The student should be able to identify the structure of each of the major body systems; describe the functions of each of the major body systems and discuss the interrelationship of systems in maintaining homeostasis.

Detailed learning objectives on each topic area (body system) will be provided in class. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Describe cellular structure and subcellular events as they pertain to the function of normal human physiology and homeostasis.
2. Discuss the function and effects of feedback regulation in human physiological systems.
3. Identify, describe and categorize human tissues according to histological and physiological parameters.
4. Define and describe the component structures and functions of the integumentary, muscular and neural body systems.
5. Discuss the integration of physiological functions between body systems in the regulation of homeostatic conditions.
6. Describe the body's mechanisms for adapting to stress and the changes or responses to stress within individual organ systems.
7. Relate the nature and occurrence of common diseases to errors in normal physiological function of organ systems.
Course Materials/Textbooks:
-Essentials of Human Anatomy and Physiology - 6th edition
Shier, David, Butler, Jackie, Lewis, Ricki
-Anatomy & Physiology Coloring Book: A Complete Study Guide, Elaine N. Marieb
This is not a required text. I will make copies of pages to use for classs. It is a good resource and I thought youy may be interested. It is usually available at Barnes & Noble or Borders.
Grading System:
Student Outcomes Summary
